On 15 September 2026, a presentation of the XAG V40 agricultural spraying drone, purchased for the educational needs of the Department of Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics, was held within the framework of the AGROPATH – Advanced Geomatics and Remote Observation for Precision Agriculture in Higher Education project.
Representatives of DroneUA introduced academic staff and students to the capabilities of the agricultural drone, its equipment, and its applications in precision agriculture. The XAG V40 is equipped with RTK navigation and is designed for agricultural operations, including spraying and fertiliser application. The drone has a payload capacity of up to 16 litres of liquid or 20 kg of granular materials, enabling precise and efficient field operations.
The presentation was attended by academic staff of the Department of Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics at the Institute of Geodesy, as well as students from groups CZ-11, CZ-21, and HD-43. The event provided participants with an opportunity to gain first-hand experience with modern equipment that will be used for the practical training of specialists in geomatics and precision agriculture.
The acquisition of the XAG V40 is part of the development of educational infrastructure within AGROPATH. One of the project’s key areas is the establishment and enhancement of laboratories equipped with modern technologies for studying geomatics, Earth observation, and precision agriculture. The new equipment will be integrated into the educational process and used by students during practical classes.
An important component of introducing the new equipment was hands-on field training. Yevhenii Shylo, Associate Professor at the Department of Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics, and Alla Hunina, Assistant Professor at the Department, completed practical training on the operation of the XAG V40. During the field training, they gained experience in setting up and controlling the drone, learned about its operational features, and explored its potential applications for precision agriculture tasks.
The practical skills acquired by the academic staff will subsequently be incorporated into student training, helping to combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience using modern equipment and real-world technological solutions.
Cooperation with DroneUA during the presentation and practical training contributes to the involvement of technology-sector representatives in the educational process and facilitates the transfer of up-to-date practical expertise for the training of specialists in digital and precision agriculture.
